An "Extreme Makeover" for the Johnson Family

The McClurg Team is pleased to support the Syracuse Fire Department's nomination of the Johnson Family of Tully, NY for ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Dave Johnson served the Fire Department for 35 years and has been an inspiration to all. He received numerous commendations and awards for valor and service. Dave retired from the Department in 2008. Most notably, Dave and his wife, Diana, have been married for 39 years and are the parents of 17 children, 14 adopted. The adopted children all have come from adverse situations. The youngest are three siblings from war-torn Sierra Leone. Dave, Diana and the family have helped promote adoption of hard to place children in the Central New York community by serving as spokespersons on National Adoption Day over the years.

Eight children currently reside with Dave and Diana in their small 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch home. Every inch of space is used for the family, and a son has special medical needs due to Crohn’s disease and must spend several hours a day on an IV drip. The home requires substantial repairs. The Johnsons do not have the resources to renovate the home on their own.

We, as a community and one of the country's finest Fire Departments, are committed to doing all that we can to "get that bus to Syracuse for the Johnson Family." There is community-wide support for the Johnson's application and our employees are committed to helping this great, great inspirational and giving family.
